Ka Bel and Nanay Mameng

Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo and Carmen “Nanay Mameng” Deunida have told the story. When the latter had her tribute last May 11, Mother’s Day, Ka Bel told her, “Mauuna pa ako sa’yong mamatay.” Ka Mameng, voice full of grief, told the grim joke at Ka Bel’s tribute yesterday: Ka Bel was a truthful man until the very end. This photo of them together was taken at Ka  Mameng’s tribute, the last time I saw him alive.
